A few weeks ago, during Community Service Day, I had the opportunity to help the Art students set up their exhibits in the Munnerlyn. The Seniors have been working on this concentration all of Senior Year. I spoke with two of my friends who are in Photography.

Phoebe Mori ‘19 explained her concentration to me by saying, “Working on my concentration this year has been very enriching. I realized my passion for shooting nature photography late in my junior year and came to the realization that I wanted to make this my AP concentration theme. Being able to get out into the world and into nature and document it has been one of the best decisions of my life, because it has deepened my appreciation for it and helped me encourage my friends to appreciate it more too.”

Lauren Press ‘19 had an amazing concentration. When asking her about it she responded, “My concentration is about empowering women through the hardships that come with being female. I put a focus on the indentations that constricting clothing leave on the skin that are most commonly worn by women (such as shapewear and bras). The message I wanted to relay was that comparison is the thief of all joy.” Her concentration was used to show the strength of females and what we go through in society.

This senior exhibition shows off so much talent and hard work. Be sure to go and check out the AP art gallery of photography, paintings and ceramics in the Munnerlyn.
