The first week of school is always an exciting but daunting time. New schedules and classes are difficult to become accustomed to. For seniors, this is their last time having the high school first week of school experience.
At Episcopal School of Jacksonville, the senior class has a few traditions, some examples are wearing white on their last first day of school and having fun backpacks. This year it was Monday, August 19, after all of the senior counselors got back from the Ninth Grade Orientation Adventure (9GOA).
“We welcomed the new year with fun traditions and getting our first taste of senior privileges,” an anonymous senior said.
My personal experience with the first week of school was one of excitement and anxiety for the new year; however, once getting settled in, it has become a pleasant routine. I went around to some of my other peers to gather their opinions as well; students Alyssa Nunley, William Allen and Simone Duguid, had these opinions to share.
“At first, my first week of school as a senior felt just like another day at school until I saw my classmates in our senior shirts. It definitely felt real then.”
“If this week is representative about how the rest of the year will go, this year is going to be amazing.”
“The first week back has been chaotic, but I am excited to start the year.”
The responses have been very positive so far. This senior class has had a great first week back, and we are all so excited for this year.
