Episcopal’s First Football Playoff Win

Episcopals First Football Playoff Win

JP Coll '22, Staff Writer

On Friday, November 8, Episcopal’s football team had its first-ever playoff win. ESJ prevailed 35-25 over Baldwin, who had defeated ESJ in a game earlier this season, 35-7.

ESJ had gone on to win five straight games after their only loss of the season to finish the regular season with nine wins, a historically great season for ESJ. Baldwin was predicted by www.floridafhsfootball.com to have a repeat performance and win 30-10, but ESJ stunned everyone and won convincingly.

ESJ’s defense shut down the Baldwin offense, with six total turnovers, but gave up a few big plays that allowed Baldwin to creep back into the game. Episcopal’s offense thrived, led by Ershod Jasey who had over 150 rushing yards in the game, which was more than the total yards ESJ had in the previous matchup between the two teams.

Episcopal followed this game up with trip to Tallahassee this Friday to battle Florida High, in an effort to try to extend their football season by one more week.
