Kanye West’s Latest Downfalls

Gertrude Hetzel '23, Staff Writer

A downfall has recently rained down surrounding Kanye West, also known as Ye, primarily because of his recent embracement of anti-Semitic remarks. West also recently wore a shirt with a controversial slogan, causing backlash and putting many of his fashion-related businesses in jeopardy. This has become make it or break it for his career.

Ye apparently became the “latest anti-Jewish conspiracy theorist to be undone by his own delusions.” On social media and in interviews, Ye seemed to be unable to address his problems reasonably.

By pinning his problem on the Jews, he thought he could avoid the problem. The issue was that Kim Kardashian, West’s ex-wife, had a public revelation with her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson. Ye complained that “it’s Jewish Zionists that’s about that life, that’s telling this Christian woman that has four Black children to put that out as a message in the media.”

West also bashed Black performers who were “doing a movie on a Jewish platform like Disney.” Kim Kardashian and her family have a deal with Hulu, which Disney owns.

This shows West just wants to push his problems away, instead of dealing with the pain, attempting to put the issues on others. West has yet again been left with simply his pain and not much else.

West’s musical career has been spiraling for a while, and he was recently dropped by his talent agency. When he got into the fashion world, he was wanted by many brands, but now, his clothing line has been pulled from Gap stores and Adidas, who distributes West’s shoe line, Yeezy.
