Miles Russel, the 15-year-old golf phenom from Jacksonville, Florida, just became the youngest player to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour. The young star also has many other impressive accolades, including being the youngest player named the AJGA Rolex Boys Player of the Year, previously held by Tiger Woods. Russel has been on the golf scene for a while now, competing in the drive chip and putt challenge in 2018 and placing 2nd, but it wasn’t until last year that he won the 2023 Juniors players championship, Junior PGA championship and was also named to the junior Ryder Cup team.
Russel first swung a golf club at the age of 2 and fell in love with the game ever since. At the young age of 6, Russel first broke par, achieving a goal many adults dream of. Russel is now playing in professional golf events and is even signed to TaylorMade for an NIL deal.
Joe Russel knew his son Miles was serious about golf when he noticed his three-year-old son wanted to watch the Golf Channel rather than cartoons. “I would be watching Golf Central, and I started noticing he was right there with me.” Russel, since a young age, has had a strong passion and understanding of golf, and with countless hours of hard work, we are finally getting to see a glimpse of what is to come from him.
Although getting tons of recognition from top golf pros and media sources, Russel remains humble and fortunate for his opportunities, making him a very likable player to watch not only because of his skill but also because of his character.
So what is Miles’s next step? He is only a rising sophomore, still having plenty of time to work on his game and prepare himself for the next step, whether it’s collegiate or straight to professional. Regardless of where he goes, you will be hearing the name “Miles Russel” on your TV one day.
