In this article, I interviewed Varsity softball players Isabella Brownlee ‘27 and Riley Applebee ‘25.
Isabella Brownlee:
What game are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to competing hard, all season long.
How do you handle pressure during a game?
I take deep breaths and know that my team has my back. I also remember that pressure is a privilege.
What’s your favorite position to play and why?
Outfield because you make the best plays like diving and you have to be there for your teammates.
What’s been your most memorable moment on the field?
Our first game against Bishop Snyder we were down 5 nothing and the sprinklers came on, and we could’ve ended the game there, but in the end we beat them 7-5
Riley Applebee:
What do you love most about being part of a team?
I love having a family that I can go to even when we aren’t in season. I will have life long friends even once I graduate.
What’s your favorite memory from playing softball?
Team sleepover before the start of the season when we got to all have fun together and not worry about school.
What skills do you think are most important for a softball player?
Being able to communicate, softball is a huge team sport, and if you can communicate with each other then it makes the game more fun and easier.
What are your goals for this season?
To make the most out of every game and compete to the best of my ability every game.
