The Episcopal girls’ lacrosse team went head-to-head with Fletcher High School recently. It was a huge game for the Lady Eagles since last season Fletcher was one of the best teams they played, and Episcopal faced a difficult loss against them.

During the 2019 season, the girls beat Fletcher 12-11 with the clinching goal coming in overtime. Stela Chepenik ‘19 explained why it was such an important game to them. Stela stated, “Last year during Regionals, my dad made a shirt saying Episcopal was going to beat Fletcher, which did not happen, so the Fletcher team got the shirt. This year, the game was a ‘Battle for the Shirt’ and since we won, we got the shirt back.”

The following week’s game was against Creekside High School and it was also Senior Night for the Episcopal ladies. Creekside has an outstanding team, so it was scary for the Eagles to play against them, especially due to all the seniors getting recognized at halftime. The Seniors really wanted to win the game for their Senior Night.

The Eagles fought a tough battle, but ended up losing 15-5 in the end. Seniors Stela Chepenik and Sarah McCawley are the only seniors on the team, and they got recognized for their outstanding season and will be deeply missed next year.
