2021 World Series

The World Series this year was one for the books. The Atlanta Braves versus a worldwide-hated team, the Houston Astros.

Last year the Braves fell short of the World Series, losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers and blowing a 3-1 series lead. The World Series was to be played between the Dodgers and Astros. The Astros cheated their way to victory by using game feed from the center field camera to decode and relay the signs of opposing teams to any Astros’ base runners on second base. The means of relaying the signs often varied. This gave the hitter an advantage on the offensive end, paving their way to victory.

This year was a fair match between the defending champions, the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves. This series came down to six games.

Game one wasn’t much of a match, with the Braves having Charlie Morton starting on the mound and hot bats on the offensive end. Atlanta took this game 6-2.

Game two was not much of a game either, with the Astros winning it 7-2, with a great offensive attack. This was a great win for the Astros due to the Braves starting their ace Max Fried.

Game three was more of a defensive game. The Braves won 2-0, having a great start pitching with rookie prodigy Ian Anderson throwing a no hitter for the first five innings. The Braves now had the lead 2-1 in the series.

The Braves managed to take game four as well. It was a thrilling game that I was luckily able to experience in person. The stadium was packed, tension was high and everyone was ready for the game to begin. It was a cold, rainy game, yet everyone remained screaming and cheering, standing and high-fiving, jumping and smiling. That is if you were a Braves fan. The Braves won this one in style with Dansby Swanson hitting a late homer, along with Jorge Soler to take the lead and secure the win. The score was 3-2.

Game five was a great bounce back win for the Astros, winning it 9-5. They had hot bats, but the Braves were also saving pitchers due to their comfortable 3-1 lead in the series.

Game six took place back in Houston. The Braves could take down the defending champions, and put cheaters in style back at their places. That is exactly what they did. The Braves won the World Series!

This was the first win for the Braves since 1995, against the Cleveland Guardians. On top of it, they shut the Astros out 7-0 during the final, making them World Champions once again.

This was huge for the city of Atlanta, and it showed. Fans ran through the streets, cheering and celebrating with one another. This was more than a championship to them. It meant something for their city.

Soler was the MVP, due to him hitting three home runs in the electric series. The Atlanta Braves are now World Champions, but now they must get back to work in order to pick up where they left off.
