There are a lot of special spots to hangout with your friends at Episcopal, to do homework or to just spend some time to yourself. Here are the best spots to go to!
To begin, some student-centered options on campus are the Buck, Harden Hall, Regan Plaza, classrooms, Bryan library or benches.
Personally, I have spent a fair deal of time in all of these places, but only a few stand out to be the best spot possible.
Regan Plaza… 4.5/10. Regan Plaza is only good on days with the most perfect weather, otherwise it is too hot, cold or rainy, with everyone fighting over the same seat. The plaza is also too public when you are with your friends, considering everyone can hear what you are saying, and similarly, is not the best choice when you are by yourself because then you look too lonely.
The Buck… 8/10. The Buck is a newly-renovated part of the school and offers a warm and cozy environment for students to be in. A pro is that it is right by the Campus Store and nurse, and the bathrooms are very new and pristine. Unfortunately, if you and your friends want to go there during Activities, then be prepared to face a teenage-filled mob.
Harden Hall… 6/10. Harden is a good place in the early mornings and for lunch, but unfortunately it is not a place open for students during their free period or middle school lunch. The reason I rated the building so high in considering its unavailableness is because of the staff. The staff is always in a great mood, even though they work throughout the whole school day.
Teachers’ classroom… 7/10. Some teachers allow students to loiter or hangout in their classroom during free periods, Activities, Tutorial or lunch. This tactic works well for bad weather days, and also can have you create a nice bond with a teacher. The downside of this strategy is that some teachers may not let you spend time in their room for a number of reasons.
The Bryan Library… 5/10. The library is simply, meh. It works for when you want a quiet place to study, but if you want to spend time with friends and talk or eat a snack, the library is not the place to be. The librarians are very friendly and always help you but whenever you make a fuss; however, they will be sure to let you know.
Benches… 9/10. Personally, secluded benches around the school are the perfect place to hangout, study or eat, or honestly to do anything at school. There are plenty of them so if it is too hot you can find one in the shade, or if it is too cold, you can find one in the sun. Ansley Croft ‘28 says she enjoys spending time at the benches with friends because she can talk about private things without having to worry if anyone is listening to her.
You might be wondering, why are secluded benches not a 10/10? Well, the answer to this is because sometimes, when living in Florida, it rains. The umbrellas at the tables can only do so much, but then again, nothing is perfect.
No place at Episcopal is the perfect place to study, eat or hangout with friends, but some are close.
