Kindness is something that can always manage to brighten someone’s day, whether it is big or small.
Kindness at school has caused many people to keep showing up. For example, I, Birdie Naugle ‘28, had experiences of kindness from many teachers at school, which gave me a lot more ambition to keep going in school.
I believe that kindness is one of the most magical things about the Episcopal community. From the lunch staff, to teachers, to deans, to counselors to students, kindness is something that is constantly being spread around campus.
A way that Jeb Naugle ‘27 shows kindness is by being respectful towards his teachers and trying to be a light around his friends. He believes that a small compliment or gesture can brighten someone’s day.
A way that Ansley Croft ‘28 finds ways to spread kindness is by being kind to everyone, even if she doesn’t know them. She believes that if you compliment someone, they will be more likely to compliment someone else.
Complimenting someone is not the only way to spread kindness. Holding the door, helping people carry things or even just smiling, gives someone an impression of kindness that brightens their day.
When someone shows me kindness, it makes me feel like I matter, and that I am worthy of notice. It grants me a feeling that pushes me to show kindness to others around me. One of my favorite things about all of my teachers is the kindness that they show me and my peers.
There are so many ways to spread kindness. Big or small, it is something that surrounds you if you let it and grows if you spread it.
