For Thanksgiving festivities first thing in the morning, my family loads up a trunk load of varied food like macaroni, turkey, collard greens and peach cobbler. After spending the entire morning in the kitchen. We head over to my uncle and aunt’s house where my grandma, grandpa and cousins also live. The first thing we do is greet each other with hugs. Most of the time there is a football game on the TV that we watch together, while the rest of the food is cooking. Before we eat, we take the time to pray and thank God for allowing us to see another day.
Unfortunately part of my family eats my personal least favorite meal of chitterlings, which if you know what that is, you know that the smell it produces is foul. On the other hand, my plate on Thanksgiving contains mac and cheese, honey baked ham, collard greens, peach cobbler, stuffing and turkey.
After eating we play games like pokeno or hide and seek throughout the neighborhood among the kids. Sometimes we go upstairs and play video games like 2K or Madden. We usually extend our intended time spent over there due to us enjoying each other’s time. Without noticing the time, we usually reach 11:00 to 11:30 PM, when we get too tired and too full, ready to head home.
After saying goodbye to my grandparents and cousins, we loaded the car back up with the food we were taking to our house. This is the way my family has celebrated Thanksgiving since I could remember.
