Weezer, AJR, Foster the People, Grandson and Meg Myers united, bringing the young and old together for the first time in Jacksonville’s history, raising Duval’s night light to a new high.

A few weekends ago, Radio station 106.1, at Daily’s Place, hosted five alternative artists to perform for the annual Big Ticket festival. Last year they hosted this event at the arena in downtown Jacksonville, which caused many issues and many ticket buyers were unable to see the performance. Daily’s Place is able to hold 5,500 people, and by the beginning of the opening night, 5,100 tickets were sold.

Jacksonville is not necessarily known for its nightlife, and about 10 years ago, downtown Jacksonville had some pretty negative stereotypes; however, now it is chalked full of restaurants, art galleries and libraries, open to everyone.

But that’s not the only new and improved area for young people to get out. Five Points in Riverside, the St. Johns Town Center, the Atlantic Beach Town Center, and the San Marco Square area have been reinventing their buildings and menus, skyrocketing a new wave of consumers and hitting newspapers and local magazines, creating a drive from out of town and people from all over south and west Florida.

These new restaurants, locations and events popping up all over Jacksonville is only going to help to improve the city and the economic circumstances of our city.
